Full Description
Tzero MKIII is every bit a true REL, just smaller. It enriches even modest systems with power and natural bass by bringing the quality and full REL connectivity suite along with an all-new aluminium cone that provides much greater stiffness to the driver for punch and a powerful, reliable Class D Amplifier.Â
At an attractive price point and discreet size, the Tzero MKIII is ideal for apartments, flats, studies and anywhere space is limited.
Though Tzero MKIII is REL’s entry level sub, that doesn’t mean it can’t punch far above it weight class. 100 high-current watts from a NextGen Class D amp means it holds its gead high and is capable of delivering may years of satisfying performance. It features the same same high-quality input filters, crossovers and limiters as it’s larger models.Â
Industry Leading Build Quality
T-Zero is built using a super stiff cabinet construction that drives the resonant frequency higher so it is more easily damped by our instrument-grade bracing. We utilized 5 full coats of lacquer, and solid aluminium feet and badging because REL owners understand quality must extend throughout a product, not just in the most obvious locations. And its diminutive scale allows it to all-but-hide among the furnishings in your home.
Classic REL Design
At REL every clean sheet design begins by defining and designing the best bass engine for a given application. While the long throw 6.5” is their smallest-to-date, make no mistake that it is powerful and articulate, and able to fill medium-sized rooms effortlessly. Have a much larger space? Distribute them throughout for an unobtrusive spacious presentation of music and film sound.
Miracle In Miniature
Industry veterans are in awe that REL are able to bring the full REL input/connectivity package to life at such reasonable cost and retain the beautiful execution of fitment and detail for which we are so well known. High-level with crossover available down to 25 Hz, a dedicated .1 Input so Theatre Reference mode can be engaged; T-Zero is a miracle in miniature.
Well Connected
As a pure high-end company, REL believe in first doing no harm with their subs. So, they offer no high pass crossovers that interfere with the bass from the main speakers. REL recommend connecting via a special high-level connection whenever possible because doing so allows the voice of your main system to be built forward into every REL. REL permit crossing over quite low because their designs produce truly deep bass, where many of their competitors focus on very loud middle bass.
Drivers Make The Difference
REL carefully design our drivers to reproduce low bass, with resonant frequencies that are exceptionally low, long travel suspensions to allow high output and ideal motor assemblies to energize the system. REL refer to them as bass engines since this descriptive more closely defines their function. Their engines are carefully designed to start and stop quickly, since it is the quiet in between notes that defines the meaning of music.
Outsized Performance
REL engineers work hard to keep moving mass as low as practical in their drivers, thereby allowing the overall design to be more mechanically efficient. Greater efficiency means obtaining more output from fewer watts of electricity consumed so there’s no need for thousands of watts of power to get a high sound pressure level.
Film, Glorious Film
REL worked closely with one of the leading movie sound studios to create REL’s Shotgun Theater Reference Circuit, wherein the low bass directed to the main speakers is reinforced by the REL all-the-while reproducing the dedicated .1 LFE channel that is the heart of thrill in a movie soundtrack. There’s a dedicated single phono input for film’s .1/LFE channel with its own volume control. Crossover is fixed, per Dolby specification, at 120Hz.Simply dial-in the High Level using dynamic music, as usual, then switch over to a film soundtrack and bring up the gain on the dedicated LFE circuit until just below clipping and you’re all set.
Instrument Grade Cabinet Bracing
All current REL designs benefit from careful hand fitting of intricate internal bracing. Borrowed from acoustic instrument design, the bracing is vastly different from the normal hard-edged windowpane braces that produce audible and evident noise when driven as hard as REL designs drive the cabinet. As the careful observer can identify, REL have taken great pains not only to locate and quiet significant modes, but each internal surface is carefully radiused to eliminate hard-edged surfaces that produce audible noise and distortion.
Monoblock Amplifiers and High Level Connection Note:
REL do not recommend use of a single REL subwoofer with ANY brand of monoblock amplifier as it is possible to observe slight channel-to-channel dc offset that can result in mild oscillation. For any monoblock, REL recommend use of stereo pairs of the appropriate model of subwoofer.
