2017 – 2022 Best Standmount Speaker Under £200
” On paper, there’s little to differentiate Dali’s new Spektor 2s from any of their main rivals. These speakers stick to the classic budget standmounter formula like Superglue sticks to fingers.”
“The Spektor 2s are excellent speakers, combining Dali’s traditional strengths with a generous dose of entertainment.”
DALI SPEKTOR 2 Bookshelf Speakers
Overview
DALI have used their fundamental acoustic and electro-acoustic principles to design the DALI SPEKTOR range. They believe that clarity and an authentic, honest sound reproduction will get you ever closer to the live experience.
Spektor Range
With the SPEKTOR range, DALI has brought their design principles to a more affordable level. This means more and more people can experience true Hi-Fi. And this is thanks to hours and hours of testing in the listening room, and countless improvements to both driver and crossover designs. So, you’ll get the perfect audio performance.
Configuration
The SPEKTOR 2 is compact yet mighty. Its increased inner volume delivers improved bass performance, while the larger surface areas of the 5¼ woofer and the 25mm soft dome tweeter improve the overall sound pressure levels. This makes the SPEKTOR 2 ideal for larger rooms that need a compact speaker. It can be used in any surround position and shines in a paired stereo system. Use with any similar price category amplifier thanks to SPEKTOR’s amplifier-friendly design. Whatever system you use with them, SPEKTOR speakers will bring out the best in it.
Wide Dispersion
Even when listening significantly off-axis you’ll experience a well-integrated sound. The off-axis distribution optimisation means sound direct to your ear and reflected sound has a coherent balance. So you’ll get a consistent high sound quality across a wider listening area. And you’ll have more flexibility for loudspeaker positioning.
Tweeter
Top level resolution, an extended frequency response, wide dispersion, low colouration – the soft dome tweeter offers all of this. Using an ultra-lightweight weaved fabric, this tweeter weighs less than half of the market standard (0.056 mg/mm2).
Woofer
Get low-loss drivers made from low-mass paper cones with wood fibre reinforcement. This gives the cones an uneven structure, minimising surface resonance and allowing for supremely detailed audio reproduction.
Low Signal Loss
The need for frequency correction is negated thanks to the exclusive use of DALI-designed and custom-built drivers. As a result, the SPEKTOR 1 has a precision-engineered crossover designed with specific quality components that make sure that signal loss is next to zero.

Audiolab 7000A Integrated Stereo Amplifier
Class AB Power
The 7000A has a discrete Class AB power amp stage which delivers 70W per channel into eight ohms, and a maximum current delivery of 9A amps for difficult loads. Superior linearity and excellent thermal stability are ensured with the output stage of the discrete power amp circuits using a CFB topology. The amp stays in firm control of the music with excellent dynamic range, helped by the 250VA toroidal transformer and the 4x15000uF reservoir capacity.
Multiple Sources
Cover all bases with high quality for all: For CD players and line-level sources, you have dual analogue inputs; for digital sources, dual Coaxial and SPDIF inputs; and for wireless audio playback and smart devices, you have a Bluetooth aptX receiver. Plus, the HDMI Audio Return Channel (ARC) connection allows you to seamlessly enhance your TV audio, with a direct-to-PC connection via USB as well, for all your home entertainment.
Cutting-edge DAC
The 7000A’s ESS ES9038Q2M chip finetunes the introduction of low-loss digital audio files into your home audio system. It utilises both 32-bit HyperStream architecture and Time Domain Jitter Eliminator from ESS Technology. Plus, it has ultra-low noise and a high dynamic range thanks to a post-DAC filter based on class A topology and its proprietary DC-coupled high-gain electronic amp.
Super Streaming
The 7000A offers full decoding for MQA, a hi-res streaming technology with a completely limited loss of detail. This means that the 7000A completes the ‘three unfold’ decoding process internally, instead of a final unfold in a final MQA ‘renderer’, resulting in superior sounding, studio-quality audio streaming from services such as Tidal.
Integrated Phono Solution
Connecting a turntable setup with a moving magnet cartridge? The 7000A comes with an enhanced, integrated phono stage, with RIAA equalisation and an improved low-noise MM phono circuit. The same can be said for this amp’s dedicated headphone output, which has current-feedback circuitry, gain bandwidth and a high slew rate, ensuring detailed and engaging performance.
Interface and Graphics
The 7000A includes an improved display and GUI, so you can more easily visualise your settings. It can be set to show a VU meter in either analogue or digital form. Furthermore, the GUI also has settings for the digital phase lock loop of the D/C converter.
